When Savvy Salon & Day Spa has the grand opening celebration of their new, expanded Westlake Village facility on February 7, they won't just be styling hair and doing facials, they will be giving an underprivileged woman or child a reason to smile.
Support for the Kids, a Ventura County, nonprofit organization that helps foster underprivileged children and women, will also benefit from the grand opening—Savvy Salon & Day Spa will be donating a percentage of the day's proceeds to the charity. The organization helps underprivileged women and children by giving them food, shelter, clothing, educations tutoring and supplies.
Susan Hughes, chief executive officer explained that an important part of Savvy's philosophy is involvement in the community. "A Savvy core value will always be to give back," Hughes said. "We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of the people in the community. That's why we are committed to working with charities like Support for the Kids."
Michael Hawkins, Savvy's artistic director and proprietor, sets Savvy's tone with his customer service. "My clients need to look great on a daily basis," Hawkins said. "I won't just throw the latest hairstyle on them. I look at their lifestyle, their personality and where they are in their life. With that knowledge, I'll give them something that enhances their beauty from the inside out."
Which is why their work with Support for the Kids is very important to the company.
"Several years ago, Savvy started working with Support for the Kids during their Self-esteem Days," Hughes explained. "We provided beauty instruction and products. I've seen firsthand how having the right tools and learning how to care for yourself can be so empowering."
The grand opening celebration will have many festivities for all in the area to enjoy. There will be sample complimentary makeovers, hand massages, paraffin dips and product gift bags. There will also be informal modeling, educational demonstrations by Savvy's staff and light refreshments.
Savvy Kids!, a separate children's salon, will be hosting face painting and other fun activities just for kids. All of the day's festivities are open to the public and are free of charge. However, Savvy asks that all visitors please bring small personal care products, educational supplies or small toys as a donation for Support for the Kids.
This grand opening will make Savvy the only freestanding salon and spa in Ventura County. The festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call them at (818) 597-0779. |
