Savvy Salon & Day Spa opened its new facility this fall in the North Ranch Pavilion, 1165 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. Proprietors Michael Hawkins and Susan Hughes converted a vacant former daycare center into a 6,500 sq. ft. full service salon and spa with 36 styling stations and four treatment rooms. They now offer enhanced amenities, including a full complement of hair design and spa treatments, a separate children's salon, an educational meeting room, exclusive professional hair care and spa products, special packages, gift certificates and more.

"Listening to our clients, we knew they wanted a special place," said Hawkins, artistic director, "and they didn't want to drive over an hour into Beverly Hills to find it. They wanted it in their neighborhood."

Hughes, chief executive officer, adds the business perspective. "When we took over the building in June 2003, it had been vacant for over a year. Although the economy was unstable, we saw the growth potential and expanded to address the unmet need for high quality service. The increase in square footage and expanded service offerings meant we could provide more job opportunities for the local economy and keep revenues within the area."

Hawkins and Hughes pride themselves on the unique elements Savvy brings to the salon and spa industry as well. "We deliberately chose to offer work options designed to expand the professional core of our industry," said Hughes.
