![]() | In October 1996 husband and wife team Eric Malka and Myriam Zaoui sold their car and opened The Art of Shaving shop on New York’s Upper East Side. The Art of Shaving was the first shop dedicated to the finest selection of men’s shaving and grooming products. Within the first year, sales far exceeded expectations, leading the company to open a second location, on Manhattan’s Madison Avenue, which contained an in-store Barber Spa. A third Manhattan location quickly followed. Given its success in Manhattan, The Art of Shaving went national in 2000, by opening a fourth location in Miami as well as a shop within a shop at Neiman Marcus in Dallas. In addition, The Art of Shaving launched its website, which gave the brand widespread availability. Today The Art of Shaving products and accessories can be found in fine retail stores in the US, England, Italy, France, Japan, Ireland and Canada. So how did this multi-million brand come to be?
